SLAUGHTER BEACH, Del. (AP) — A Delaware man caught three squatters in his summer home after a higher-than-normal utility bill led him to investigate.
News outlets report the Slaughter Beach homeowner returned to the house Saturday and found 19-year-old Jacob Kantowski and 20-year-old Sierra Grimseld inside. Kantowski and Grimseld were arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and theft of services.
Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. Melissa Jaffe tells the Delaware State News an investigation found a third person had been squatting in the home and was the person who initially broke in. Cpl. Jaffe says 49-year-old David L. Howard turned himself in Sunday afternoon and was charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief, second-degree conspiracy and theft of services.
It’s unclear if the three have lawyers.
