CLAYTON, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a cargo ship carrying soybean has run aground in the St. Lawrence Seaway in New York’s Thousand Islands region.

The Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. says the bulk carrier Pacific Huron ran aground late Wednesday night in U.S. waters southwest of Wellesley Island, off of the town of Clayton, New York.

The agency says forward section of the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged, 623-foot freighter ran aground about 1,000 feet outside the navigation channel. Officials say no injuries to the crew are reported and there are no leaks, pollution or flooding on the ship.

A U.S. Coast Guard crew from Massena, New York, and inspectors from the U.S. and Canadian agencies that manage the seaway will board the vessel Thursday to conduct an investigation.
