BRANDON, Vt. (AP) — Vermont residents are meeting with town officials to discuss selling their homes after multiple floods devastated the area.
The Rutland Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2xwU6iQ ) six Brandon homeowners will meet with Town Manager David Atherton and Vermont Emergency Management representative Lauren Oates on Thursday.
The state has previously advised residents in the area to move after being hit by floods once from Tropical Storm Irene and again in July.
Oates says at least two families want to sell their homes immediately.

She warns the federal buyout process can take from eight to 18 months. She says the town needs to apply for the program by Oct. 27.
Atherton says homes approved for the program will be torn down and the property will be taken off tax rolls.
