OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi high school is dealing with damage from a sinkhole that developed on campus.

The Oxford Eagle reports that heavy rains caused the hole to form last month near the bleachers and press box for the Oxford High School football field.

An architect gave school board members some good news Monday: The damage to the press box is not as bad as originally thought. The building can be repaired. And, a new drainage system will be installed under the bleachers.

Officials hope all the work will be finished by Aug. 1. Football season starts later that month.
