JAMESTOWN, R.I. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says five people have been rescued after a catamaran capsized in Rhode Island.
WJAR-TV reports that crews responded to two catamarans in distress south of Beavertail Lighthouse around 1 p.m. Saturday. The first vessel had capsized, leaving two people with life jackets in the water and three people still on the boat. All five people were rescued. The boat was towed to the Dutch Harbor Boat Yard.
The second vessel had a broken mast and was escorted back to the east passage. Four people were onboard.
The Coast Guard says no serious injuries have been reported.
