LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police say a taxi driver has died after he was beaten by a passenger at a gas station in Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Times reports Sunday that police were searching for the assailant after being called out shortly after 3 a.m.

Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman says the cab pulled into the gas station, and the driver and passenger got into a dispute.

Eisenman says both men got out of the car, and the assailant punched and kicked the driver.

The driver was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released pending notification of family.
