ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (AP) — Police say an arrest has been made after suspects fired a shot into the ceiling of a North Carolina convenience store they were robbing.

Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty tells the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald that the robbery happened Thursday night.

Hasty said two males entered the store, one fired a shot into the ceiling and the suspects demanded money. The suspects then fled with cash.

The police chief said a 16-year-old suspect was arrested Friday on charges including robbery and illegal discharge of a firearm.

Warrants have been obtained for a second suspect.
