NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A Louisiana State Police trooper has been arrested and placed on administrative leave following allegations that he raped a juvenile girl.

New Orleans police say 36-year-old Leander Journee was arrested Tuesday in connection with a June 11 incident. He faces a charge of third-degree rape, a charge involving a victim who does not, or for various reasons cannot, give legal consent. News media report Journee was released on bond Wednesday. He has not yet entered a plea.

Trooper Melissa Matey said in an email that Journee was hired in 2007 and was assigned to the State Police Bureau of Investigations.

Col. Kevin Reeves, the state police superintendent, said the department placed Journee on administrative leave and seized all of his state police property immediately upon learning of the allegation.
