TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A Sierra Vista man has been sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison for stealing a car in Tucson with a young child inside.

Pima County Superior Court officials say 20-year-old Anthony Gracia was sentenced Monday on charges of motor vehicle theft and facilitation to commit vehicle theft.

Gracia originally was also facing kidnapping and child abuse charges.

Court officials say Gracia will be credited for 182 days already served and be on two years’ probation after completing his prison term.

Gracia was accused of stealing a vehicle from a driveway in December 2017 with a 2-year-old boy in the back seat.

Tucson police say the child’s mother had left her son in an unlocked and still-running vehicle while she went back inside her apartment to retrieve a laptop computer.
