IRMO, S.C. (AP) — Crews are searching a South Carolina lake after a man jumped into the water and did not resurface.

News outlets reported the search started on Lake Murray near Irmo early Sunday afternoon. Richland County Sheriff’s Sgt. Amanda Jordan said the man jumped from a boat into the water and was not seen again.

Capt. Robert McCullough with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said the man was a 47-year-old Lexington resident. His name has not been released.

Sgt. Rhett Bickley said three people on a pontoon jumped into the water and only two made it back to the boat. Bickley said the lake is about 60 feet (18 meters) deep where the man disappeared.

Crews resumed the search shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.
