Hurricane Patricia slammed into Mexico’s Pacific coast on Friday as a powerful Category 5 storm, with its eye coming ashore just west of the port city of Manzanillo.
The only other Category 5 hurricane in the Pacific to ever hit land was also near Manzanillo. In the Atlantic, a dozen Category 5 hurricanes have come ashore.
