ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) — The head coach of Andover High School’s hockey team has been placed on leave along with two assistant coaches.

High School Principal Philip Conrad said in a statement Wednesday that he has determined “certain coaching methodologies” used by the boys’ varsity coaches were “not in the best interests” of the students. He didn’t elaborate but said he was “disheartened” by the allegations, which are under investigation.

Conrad also didn’t name the coaches. Chris Kuchar is listed as the varsity coach on the Massachusetts High School Hockey Association website. He didn’t immediately respond to an email and call seeking comment.

Conrad said junior varsity hockey coach Peter Loring will serve as interim varsity coach. He said team members were notified Wednesday morning and a message was sent home to their parents.
