ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Two men are accused of defrauding a Georgia county of up to $100,000 over a five-year period.
WAGA-TV reports Athens-Clark County police arrested Jamison Goolsby and Bobby Wright on Wednesday.
Capt. Jerry Saulters says Goolsby would submit invoices in his capacity as the plant supervisor for the county’s North Oconee Water Reclamation Facility. The invoices were for a product the government didn’t receive, and usually amounted to $900 per week. They were made out to Wright’s Wright and Wright Janitorial, Inc., a county vendor.
Investigators say Wright and Goolsby split the cashed checks. Saulters says the dollar amount kept the scheme hidden, but county officials noticed something off last month.
