Seattle Times reader John Bissell’s photo of birds flying over a misty Northwest lake.

Photographer: John Bissell, Sammamish Photo taken: Nov. 29, from the deck of his home Photographer’s description: “I have been watching this same flock of birds for years. It was a great sunset and I grabbed my Nikon D 3100 with a 50-300 mm zoom lens and just started shooting until I got this shot. I like the simplicity and the colors.” Katie’s critique: “What I love about this photo is how simple and clean it is. I also love having that space for the birds to fly in. The pastels are beautiful against the silhouettes of the birds. This feels like the Pacific Northwest to me because of the fogginess above that tree line and the calm ripples on the water. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this photo; it’s simply beautiful.” Share your recent photo from around the Northwest. Submit online at seattletimes.com/northwestphotos.
