Take a spin on the dance floor during National Ballroom Dance Week, Saturday through Sept. 28 at several local venues. Saturday’s free kickoff gala at Center House at Seattle Center features demonstrations of Latin, classic smooth and swing dancing and social dancing for everyone. Can’t dance? Don’t worry, newcomers are welcome, with salsa and foxtrot lessons for beginners to get you dancing with confidence.
Festivities continue with dance lessons for newcomers in salsa basics and Lindy hop swing in Shoreline, Seattle and Bellevue on Wednesday, and waltz, swing and Argentine tango in Seattle and Everett Sept. 26. Pacific Dance Center in Bellevue (425-688-1010) offers an introductory salsa lesson and dance party Wednesday, and Washington Dance Club in Seattle (206-628-8939) hosts a mambo and salsa workshop and dance Sept. 26, intro to hustle Sept. 28, and newcomers’ salsa and Argentine tango classes Oct. 2. All events are free for newcomers.
