Think you could land a plane in an emergency? Here’s why you can’t.

Do I need travel insurance for my 2023 vacation?

Although not as long as they were Sunday, there were still long delays at general security lines at Sea-Tac airport Monday, September 19, 2022. Lines lead out to the parking garage for a brief time Monday morning. Wait times were up to 90 minutes Sunday though people reported waiting in line for up to two hours.

Although most people think that the Thanksgiving holiday produces the longest lines at Sea-Tac International
Airport, they are actually busiest during the summertime. Passengers don’t seem to be too worried about
previous COVID restrictions, which were lessened in September when this photo was shot, but the long lines
and waits are definitely back.

We have owls nesting in our yard and the surrounding forest, but rarely do they come down to our deck. This barred owl landed on the railing, carefully checked out the scene then closed his eyes and turned to worship the sun. Taken with Canon EOS 77D, EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM lens at ISO 100, 1/2000, f/2.8, 200mm.

Male Blue-eyed Darner dragonflies usually spend nearly all their waking hours patrolling for food or females, but on occasion will take a break and perch on cattails or other pond vegetation. I happened to catch this one briefly stretching out his abdomen (“tail”) during an unusually long break. I shot this handheld with a Sony A1 camera and 100-400mm lens while standing shin-deep in the pond.

I heard the snow geese flying overhead, quickly aimed upward, zoomed in and snapped a photo. Afterwards I noticed that everything had lined up perfectly. Taken with a Canon Powershot SX530.

Conditions looked promising for a nice sunset so and friend and I made the 90 minute drive up north to Deception Pass. Things fell into place very nicely for us as the sun dropped down where we anticipated, and there was a very nice orange tint in the sky as the sun set. Taken with a Nikon Z7 with a 150 – 600mm Tamron telephoto lens. DSC_9550.jpg
