These may be called the dog days of summer but cats and horses are getting in on the act, too. Here are the August pet events:

Woofstock: 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, Todd Field on University of Puget Sound campus, Tacoma. More than a hundred pets including cats, dogs and ferrets will be up for adoption. The free event features meet-and-greet areas, demonstrations, vendors, information booths and live music. See the earlier post for more details.

Daffodil Arabian Show: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, and Sunday, Aug. 7, Puyallup Fair and Events Center, Puyallup. Free Arabian horse show featuring professional, amateur and youth exhibitors.

Fundraiser for Old Dog Haven: 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, Northwest Cellars, Kirkland. Meet adoptable dogs from Old Dog Haven while enjoying a wine tasting. There will be treats for your pooch, too. $10.

SnoBounders CPE Dog Agility Trial: 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, and Sunday, Aug. 7, McCollum Pioneer Park, Everett. Watch dogs speed through the obstacle courses. Free.

C-Fair Charity Horse Show: Through Sunday, Aug. 7, Evergreen Equestrian Park, Monroe. This benefit for Seattle Children’s hospital features Morgans, American Saddlebreds, Friesians, Hackney horses. Free admission for spectators.

Doggie Wash: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, in the parking lot of Hawthorne Hills Veterinary Hospital, 4020 N.E. 55th. St., Seattle. Dog washes, door prizes and refreshments. The Josh and Friends event benefits Seattle Children’s.

AquaSox Bark in the Park: Game starts at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, Everett Memorial Stadium, Everett. Watch an AquaSox game with your canine friend. First 1,000 fans get a pet bandana. Tickets are $7-$16 but dogs get in free.

Evergreen Classic Horse Show: 8 a.m. daily, Wednesday, Aug. 10, through Sunday, Aug. 14, Remlinger Equestrian Park, Carnation. The event features the top hunter-jumper horses and riders in the region, food, wine and vendors. Proceeds benefit Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center. Admission is free for spectators. Parking is $5-$20.

Paws on the Patio: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle. Dogs can chill on the green carpet while their owners take in the live music and city view. $1 from the featured cocktail goes toward Pasado’s Safe Haven.

Wine Tasting to benefit N.O.A.H: 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, Gallery by the Bay, Stanwood. Enjoy wine, live music, a silent auction, prizes and Paw-casso, an animal-themed art show. $15. To learn more about N.O.A.H., click here.

Catapalooza: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, and Sunday, Aug. 14, Seattle Humane Society campus in Bellevue. Ten adoption and rescue groups team up for a weekend of cat adoptions, cat-toy making, face painting, education programs for kids, demonstrations (including Tellington Touch for Cats), expert advice and more. Even the shelter’s dogs will be in on the fun and supporting their feline pals by wearing bandanas that say, “Adopt a Cat.”

DogFest: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, Shoreview Park off-leash area, Shoreline. Annual event features contests, vendors and demonstrations by Seattle FlyDogs.

Wag ‘n’ Walk: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, Greenbank Farm, Whidbey Island. Whidbey Animal’s Improvement Foundation celebrates the rescue efforts of area residents with canine contests (most talkative dog, waggiest tail, water relay and ice-cream eating) and games, search and herding demonstrations, adoptable pets, vendors, dog dancing and more. $20 for an event T-shirt.

Benefit for Homeward Pet: 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, Northwest Cellars, Kirkland. Wine tasting for you and treats for your pooch. $10.

Olympic Kennel Club all-breed show: 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, -Sunday, Aug. 21, Enumclaw Expo Center, Enumclaw. Watch dogs compete in agility, obedience and rally. Free admission.

Woof Walk: 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, Lake Hills Greenbelt, Bellevue. Take your dog on a wilderness walk and learn about the parks. Meet at the Ranger Station, 15416 SE 16th St. Free. Call to register and to check for schedule changes, 425-452-7225.

Dog Days @ the Park: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, Fort Borst Dog Park, Centralia. Free event includes demonstrations by K9 units and rescue teams, kids’ activities, vendors and seminars covering behavior control and disaster preparedness.
