Seattle’s downtown waterfront has been evolving drastically since 2017.

Although the 20-acre Waterfront Park is slated to fully open next year, many of its features can already be enjoyed. Within the past five years, Pioneer Square Habitat Beach has brought a slice of nature to downtown, Pier 62 has created space for more community programming and the new Ocean Pavilion has increased the Seattle Aquarium’s footprint by about 50%.

The much-anticipated Overlook Walk, which will connect the waterfront and Pike Place Market with pedestrian pathways, is set to open Oct. 4. (Friends of Waterfront Park’s opening celebration from 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m. on Oct. 4 will include music from KNKX host Abe Beeson, entertainment, crafts and food trucks at Overlook Park and Pier 62.)

In light of such big changes, we want to highlight locals’ favorite spots and activities along the waterfront and inside Pike Place Market. Share your go-to places to visit, plus your thoughts on all the recent waterfront developments, in the form below or by emailing smccullough@seattletimes.com. Your responses, lightly edited for grammar and length, may be included in a future How to Seattle story.
