Photographer: Blaine Amidon

Photo taken: April 12, 2019, in the Skagit Valley near Mount Vernon

Photographer’s description: “During a break between rainstorms I was able to drive to the Skagit Valley and get a few shots. The clouds broke up nicely for me to get this shot. The red tulips really popped out against the scattered clouds and blue sky. Taken with a Nikon Z7, ISO 100, f/9, 1/1200 sec.”

Critique: “The photographer captured a nice contrast between the bright flowers and the stormy clouds. Trying to get a person into the image would help add a sense of scale to the endless field of tulips.”
