Seattle Times reader Gloria Z. Nagler’s photo of a mallard stretching her wings on a rain-filled pond.
Photographer: Gloria Z. Nagler, Lake Forest Park
Photo taken: Feb. 2, Matthews Beach Park, Seattle
Photographer’s description: “Showing her colors! I sat in the park next to a temporary (rain-filled) pond and watched the ducks. Eventually, this mallard stretched and displayed her almost unreal purplish stripe. Used my Canon 5D Mark IV, 400 mm.”
Critique: “Awesome work getting out there in our rainy weather to capture this great image. The long lens combined with a fast shutter speed makes the details of the duck feathers stand out from the rest of the gray/brown in the photo.”
