Photographer: Tim Nicol
Photo taken: Taken on July 11, 2018 in Republic
Photographer’s description: “A female rufous hummingbird hovers over a blanket flower in my hummingbird garden in Republic, Washington. Taken with a Nikon D850 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens.”
Critique: “The immediate thing that jumps out in this photo, like many of Nicol’s previous entries, is how cleanly the background allows the subject to be the sole focus. Even with a clear focus, the amount of detail, from the fibers on the flower to the different textures on the feathers of the bird, makes this photo great visual treat.”
