Seattle Times reader Tim Nicol zooms in on a hummingbird over a blanket flower.
Taken on July 11, 2018 in Republic
“A female rufous hummingbird hovers over a blanket flower in my hummingbird garden in Republic, Washington. Taken with a Nikon D850 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens.”
“The immediate thing that jumps out in this photo, like many of Nicol’s previous entries, is how cleanly the background allows the subject to be the sole focus. Even with a clear focus, the amount of detail, from the fibers on the flower to the different textures on the feathers of the bird, makes this photo great visual treat.”
