$16 is new campground fee, up from $10-$12 -- but still no admission fee to park complex.
It’s fee-increase season at America’s national parks, and campground fees at the North Cascades National Park complex are the latest announced rate hike.
Car camping at Colonial Creek, Newhalem Creek, and Goodell Creek campgrounds will increase to $16 per night beginning Saturday, May 23. Previous nightly fees were $10 at Goodell Creek and $12 at the others. Camping will remain free at the park complex’s Hozomeen and Gorge Lake car campgrounds, as well as backcountry and lakeside camps
The additional revenue will be used to provide enhanced visitor services including repair and maintenance of facilities, capital improvements, enhanced amenities, resource protection and additional visitor programs and services, according to a written release. There will be an emphasis on park improvements prior to the National Park Service centennial in 2016.
The North Cascades park does not charge an entry fee.
