Thursday Night, Metropolitan Fashion Week premiered Seattle’s newest menswear collection in everything from underwear to party wear from Trillium Custom Tailoring, David Lawrence, and UNDERU4MEN. The crowd saw it all-abs to the abstract-but were left with a question much bigger than what men will be wearing this winter.

The designers took an impressive amount of risks in designs for this show, and we were certainly surprised by them. With these risks, however, we’ve started to become weary of a certain phenomenon happening in men’s wear. In a society fueled by phones that cancel your meetings for you, characterized by “Reality Star” being a viable career option, fashion must fight to keep up with the times. As designers reach into any unknown realms they can in an effort to wow us, our fashion is in danger of becoming unsubstantial and unwarranted. We all must be careful that our fashion does not make a mockery of us…
