Readers rant about party stuff in neighbor's recycling, rave about firefighters

RANT  Every week, I help my elderly neighbor get her garbage, recycling and compost out for pick-up. This time, I went to add recycling to her bin and found it completely filled with someone else’s plastic bags filled with badly sorted empties and lids, obviously from a neighborhood party. This is inexcusable and terribly unneighborly. Use your own bin, not someone else’s, or take your empties to the recycling center.

RAVE  To the kind, professional, smart firefighters at our local fire station who on a recent morning were showing an awestruck child the shiny firetruck in their driveway, while simultaneously assisting my friend in a possible medical emergency. They’re so appreciated and we’re so lucky to have them in our neighborhood.
