RAVE to the amazing waste management crews who delight my child with a friendly honk, fist bump or quick chat. They are busy but still share their time. That would be enough, but some go a step further — a treasured replica recycling truck; a Recology shirt; letting him “help.” Trash collection day is truly the highlight of the week. We count the days to the next school holiday when he can stay home all day and not miss a single pickup. We’ve learned many of our regulars’ names and think of their kindness long after they’ve moved on to other routes. We’re so grateful to all the workers who honor my son’s interest, making the mundane beautiful.
RANT to bicyclists who think that the “bikes don’t have to make complete stops at stop signs” rule means that you have the right of way over pedestrians and cars. You don’t.
