As if The Walrus and the Carpenter could get any busier. Food & Wine Magazine anointed Renee Erickson’s Ballard spot among the best oyster bars in the country. The Seattle standby Elliott’s Oyster House along the waterfront also made the list.

The national magazine praised Walrus and Carpenter for showcasing local oysters such as Hama Hama and Elliott’s for its sustainable practice, praising its workers for volunteering to “seed, tend and harvest the oyster beds of a local community shellfish farm.”

Oysters aren’t cheap these days. But pssst, if you can get off work early,  The Walrus and the Carpenter and Elliott’s Oyster House both offer discounted oysters during happy hour.
