Behold the sartorial splendor wrought from toilet paper, tape, glue and thread!

In the category of I Didn’t Know This Was Actually a Thing, But I Am Very Much Here For It: The dresses you see here are made of toilet paper, and are four of the finalists at the 2018 Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, held at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York on June 20. Yes, apparently the popular wedding-shower game is a national contest, and this year more than 1,500 dresses were submitted. The rules are that designers can use only toilet paper (specifically the Quilted Northern brand, which is a sponsor of the event), tape, glue and/or needle and thread; nothing else. The winning gown was the one pictured second from right, designed by Ronaldo Cruz and featuring a halter neck, a train, accessories (a fan, a headpiece), and an ornate floral design. But there are clearly no losers here — my favorite might be the one second from left, with what looks like an elaborately crocheted train.  Toilet paper, tape, glue and thread. I am, uncharacteristically, speechless. Well played, everyone.
