The annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala brings an assortment of fantasy gowns — many of them complete with dramatic trains.

At the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala last Monday (otherwise known as the Met Ball), the gowns showed a generous assortment of dramatic trains (the better to fashionably climb those Met steps). Nina Dobrev’s gold Marchesa dress seemed to float up the stairs behind her, on tulle wings. Bee Shaffer’s McQueen gown bloomed with flowers. And Zoe Saldana, in Dolce & Gabbana, showed off how gloriously beautiful a skirt seemingly made of multicolored feathers can be. (And made me wonder how it fit into the car, but never mind.)
