Former UW football star and longtime local horse-racing trainer Junior Coffey dies at 79

Junior Coffey, 75, is a former football running back who played at the  University of Washington and then in the NFL before starting to train horses.

Junior Coffey, who died Monday from congestive heart failure, helped integrate UW football, according to his wife, and was among the few Black trainers in horse racing.
