Forget everything you think you know about vegan cheese substitutes. Chelo Cultured Cashew Crème is a delicious, creamy spread that can be used as a tapenade, mixed with pasta, as a mayonnaise or sour cream substitute, or just eaten on a cracker.
Chelo was created by a nutritional therapist on Vashon Island for her clients who were sensitive to dairy. Using natural fermentation and ingredients such as cashews, water, coconut oil and salt, she created the cream-cheese-textured product.
It’s dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, vegan and probiotic. Six flavors, including Kalamata Olive and Garlic Herb, are available.
