Ikea just announced collaborations with Lego, Adidas, Virgil Abloh and Sonos.
Ikea just announced a planned collaboration with Lego on unspecified products to be rolled out “in the next couple of years.”
We predict bins and play tables, as the announcement states, “First out is to try to make the whole home a better functioning and more fun place.” With a goal of “finding a solution that can encourage more creative LEGO play while at the same time pleasing parent’s interest in household look and feel to enable children and their parents to play together.”
Because containing all those Legos is always a challenge.
Ikea, also announced and expanded on several other collaborations today at its annual Democratic Design Days event, including one with American fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who founded the hip Off-White label and is creative director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear division.
His Markerad collection includes a minimalist wood and glass cabinet, and a rug that looks like a giant Ikea receipt. It’s scheduled to hit stores in 2019.
Ikea also announced a partnership with speaker-maker Sonos for a speaker called Symfonisk, which would be able to pair with Sonos products but would fit modularly with other Ikea products or even act as a shelf. It’s expected to launch in the second half of 2019.
And the Swedish company announced a collaboration with Adidas, which will aim to make it easier to stay fit at home.
