We strongly believe it doesn’t have to cost a fortune to curate a good makeup collection. For every luxury item, there’s a cheaper substitute.

One of the easiest luxe-feeling items to find, sans the high ticket price, is lipstick. Here are some of the drugstore picks celebrity makeup artists use on their own clients.

Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon in Peony Kiss ($18 at honestbeauty.com). “There are tons of beauty products that are of quality at drugstores,” says makeup artist Kira Nasrat. “[Peony Kiss] is a soft pink with great color payoff and it keeps lips hydrated, which I love.”

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor ($8 at target.com). Makeup artist Jessica Hoffman says she loves this liquid lipstick. “It’s, by far, one of the easiest, smoothest, prettiest matte lipsticks I’ve ever tried. I especially love Seduction — it’s the ultimate I-woke-up-like-this color for light to medium skin tones, and Forever for darker skin tones,” she says.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Nude Collection Lipstick in #42 ($5 at walmart.com). “This beautiful pink-y beige looks great on every skin tone,” says makeup artist Ermahn Ospina. “Plus, its fashionable package and great price make it a great drugstore find.”

Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Blush Basin ($9 at target.com). “This is my go-to lipstick!” says makeup artist Katelin Gan. “I love everything about it, from texture to color. And the fact that it is 100 percent natural takes the cake. I love this shade because it is one of those ‘your lips, only better’ shades.”

Chapstick Total Hydration Moisture Tint in Coral Blush ($5 at target.com). Makeup artist Matin says he loves this tinted lip balm. “I always send my clients with one of the shades and have them use it to keep their lipstick fresh. It’s just a sheer hint of color, so it looks good on everyone,” he says.

Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Plum Perfect ($9 at neutrogena.com). “The formula is moisturizing without being too shiny and that shade looks good on everyone — it’s the perfect rosy lip,” says makeup artist Lisa Aharon. “It’s also very convenient and easy to apply; there’s just enough pigment for you to play with it as a stain or build it up to a solid color.”

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Lipstick by J.Lo ($9 at ulta.com). “This is one of my favorite go-to pinky nude lipsticks because it is a beautiful, unique color that looks great on all skin tones and ages, and you can wear it day to night,” says makeup artist Andrea Tiller.
