Live long and prosper with 'Star Trek' finds that celebrate the show's 50th anniversary and a new EMP exhibit.
Boldly go to EMP to catch the “Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds” exhibition that opens Saturday (May 21), and pick up some fan gear to celebrate the iconic show’s 50th anniversary while you’re at it.
Not only is the sci-fi classic celebrating a big birthday (the first episode aired in September 1966), but there will also be a new movie out in July, “Star Trek Beyond.”
Parties and events will take place through the summer, but you can get prepped now with a few fun items.
EMP “Star Trek” tickets ($21–$27 at empmuseum.org). The exhibit opens Saturday and features more than 100 artifacts, set pieces and props, including Captain Kirk’s command chair, Spock’s tunic, ship models and more. Be sure to enter the transporter simulator, where you can create a film of yourself getting beamed to another location.
