RADIO HOST
Steven Graham

What do you do? I am the host of the radio show “Locals Only” (the best local music show in Seattle) on 107.7 The End.

How did you get started in that field? I have been writing about music for over six years and spent four years putting on shows and music festivals with the best local bands around. I had crossed paths with the previous host of “Locals Only,” who asked me to come in as a guest on the show once. After that, she asked me if I would like to join as her co-host. That was two years ago. One year ago, I took the show on by myself.

What’s a typical day like? Other than actually being on the air, I spend lots of time talking with local bands and listening to all the new local music I can find to incorporate the good stuff into the show each week. I listen to every song emailed to me and every CD sent to me at the station. The rest of my time is spent writing blog posts for 1077theend.com, booking guests for the show and getting ready for the interview with my guest.

What’s the best part of the job? The best part of the job is having the opportunity to champion the amazing artists I believe in, who are coming out of what I think is the best music community in the world. Also, I really love that hunting for the best new local music I can find is part of my job. Getting to be a part of the station I grew up listening to is pretty amazing.

What surprises people about what you do? I think just that fact that I am on the radio really surprises people. Even people who have known me for years have seemed pretty surprised. They always knew I loved to talk, but enjoying the sound of my own voice previously hadn’t gotten me very far.
