What do you do? I’m the marketing and event director for Bluewater Organic Distilling [in Everett]. I create and produce events we host at the distillery, such as tastings, mixology classes and private parties. I also help partner with local restaurants and bars to create unique and fun cocktail-centric events where were we can spread the word about our organic, sustainable spirits.

How did you get that job? I met John and Jessica Lundin (the founders) almost a year ago, when they created a signature cocktail for an event I was planning, and I kept in touch. When John mentioned he needed some event expertise and some extra help I jumped at the opportunity, which led to a long brainstorming session on how to take Bluewater to the next level, and here I am.

What’s a typical day like? I interact with customers and clients, help to expand our market as well as support our reps — not only locally, but nationally. It’s my job to make sure everyone has what they need to be successful in promoting and communicating our spirits and philosophy. Our office is right in the heart of the distillery — I sit next to the copper kettle stills, and on most days, get to smell the aromas of a batch of gin being distilled, and then a few days later we will be bottling all that gin by hand and boxing it up for distribution.

What’s the best part of the job? I work in a distillery. Next to a brewery. What more could I ask for? But truly the best part is having the opportunity to interact with people over our organic spirits. Being from the Pacific Northwest, I am very interested in local, organic and sustainable products. Working to build a small business that not only makes a great product, but that’s also making a difference is incredibly exciting.

What surprises people about your job? What most people don’t realize is that we do everything right in our distillery, and we love it. We distill, bottle and package our spirits, all while answering emails, selling bottles to our local customers and brainstorming our future goals. We do it all in one creative space.
