Readers rave about polite Washington State Fair crowds, rant about Confederate flag
RAVE To the young teenage girls at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup who tried to help a young boy who was lost and crying; they were so kind trying to comfort him until he spotted his parents. Also a rave to everyone we encountered at the Fair who were polite and forgiving if/when we accidentally bumped into them. What a great crowd!
RANT I recently noticed on residential property a flagpole that reminded me that symbols of hate are alive and on display — the stars and stripes flew upside down, and below Old Glory was the Confederate battle flag. The Northwest isn’t immune to problems of hate and prejudice.
