Looking for nice (“Paddington”)? Or “Inherent Vice”? They’re here on DVD Tuesday, April 28, among others. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services. For full reviews, search the title at Release dates are subject to change.

★★★  Paddington (PG): The “young bear gentleman” from Michael Bond’s classic books comes to CGI life (voiced by Ben Whishaw; the other characters are live-action) in an original story set in contemporary London. Written and directed by Paul King, it involves a villainous taxidermist (Nicole Kidman) and a frantic search for Paddington’s origins.

★★½  The Wedding Ringer(R): A sad-sack groom (played by Josh Gad) finds himself in need of a best man, so he hires one (Kevin Hart) — as well as a whole team of groomsmen.

★★  The Gambler (R): Rupert Wyatt’s remake of the 1974 James Caan movie stars Mark Wahlberg as a rumpled English professor by day and a deep-in-debt gambler by night.

★½  Inherent Vice (R): Joaquin Phoenix plays a whacked-out-on-weed private eye trying to make sense of a series of incidents involving, in no particular order: a spacey former girlfriend (Katherine Waterston); a missing real estate mogul (Eric Roberts); a deceased saxophonist who apparently is not, in fact, deceased (Owen Wilson); a coke-snorting dentist (Martin Short); a porno-parlor proprietress (Hong Chau); a bullying cop (Josh Brolin); a cultlike rehab center; risqué neckties; a heroin stash; a mysterious sailboat and a torture chamber. Got all that?
