The Essentially Ellington competition, which runs Thursday-Saturday, May 7-9, in New York, includes three Seattle-area high-school jazz bands: Roosevelt and Garfield, from Seattle, and Mount Si, from Snoqualmie.

Jazz at Lincoln Center, which produces Essentially Ellington, is offering a live stream of the event at livestream.com/jazz, or below.

 

Here is the schedule (all times PDT):

10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Thursday: Welcoming remarks by artistic director Wynton Marsalis and “open rehearsal” by members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra

11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday: Competition Part I (Roosevelt)

7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Saturday: Competition Part II (Garfield)

10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Saturday: Competition Part III (Mount Si)

1 p.m. Saturday: Announcement of top three bands

4:30 p.m. Saturday: Final concert and announcement of first-, second- and third-place winners and soloist and ensemble awards.
