Half an hour before its scheduled start time, Brandi Carlile announced she wouldn't be able to play Saturday's show at the Moore Theatre due to a family emergency.
Roughly a half hour before the show was slated to begin, word came that Brandi Carlile would not take the Moore Theatre stage on Saturday as planned. The folk-country singer was set to play the second show of a two-night stand, when she announced through her social media accounts that a family emergency would force her to cancel.
During Friday’s incredible sold-out show, Carlile talked about how her oldest daughter, Evangeline, has been sick, sharing an adorable story about crawling into bed with her after a recent Vancouver show. Apparently, things got worse and the family made a precautionary trip to the emergency room Saturday.
“Evangeline is ok and we are all together,” she later wrote on Facebook, posting a photo of Evangeline in a hospital bed. “Whatever she’s fighting took kind of a scary turn today and we’re currently in the ER just to make absolutely sure she’s ok. I didn’t feel right leaving my girls until all is well.”
Local promoter STG Presents described the show as being postponed, saying “tickets will be honored at the future date.” No word yet on when exactly a makeup gig might occur, but if and when the show is rescheduled, let’s hope Carlile and her band are as dialed in as they were on Friday.
Fans on social media were predictably bummed, but understanding of the situation.
Good news is, Evangeline seems to be recovering well.
“She’s a tough girl and has asked for steak… please don’t worry but please do forgive me!” Carlile wrote in the post.
Somebody get that kid a rib-eye.
