The made-in-Seattle short film “The Procedure,” written and directed by Calvin Lee Reeder, has won the Short Film Jury Award: U.S. Fiction at the Sundance Film Festival this week.
The film, which features local actor/filmmaker Christian Palmer as a man who is captured and made to endure a mysterious experiment, was funded through Kickstarter. It was shot in last summer “in a warehouse in Tukwila,” said producer Carlos Lopez (on the telephone Thursday), with an all-local crew.
Reeder, a former Seattleite now based in L.A., was the subject of a retrospective at Northwest Film Forum last summer.
“The Procedure,” just four minutes long, made its world premiere at Sundance as part of the Midnight Shorts program last week.
