“Inheritance,” a locally filmed drama about two estranged sisters who reunite to bury their father, opens in theaters May 9. Directed by Emily Moss Wilson, it was shot entirely on Bainbridge Island in late 2023, and stars Austin Highsmith Garces and Rachel Noll James (who also co-wrote the film) as the sisters, alongside Wes Brown, Michelle Hurd and Cynthia Geary.
“Inheritance” is the second feature from Emergence Films, a new international production company (based in Seattle and London) that champions female filmmakers.
The film will screen May 9-22 at Bainbridge Cinemas (403 Madison Ave. N., Bainbridge Island), with James and producer Sienna Beckman present May 13 and 22; May 9-15 at West Seattle’s Historic Admiral Theatre (2343 California Ave. S.W., Seattle); and May 21 at the Firehouse Theater (11171 N.E. State Highway 104, Kingston) with James and Beckman present.
