Weekend Highlight

Always dreamed of getting an RV? With spring seeming so close, yet so far away, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about a recreational vehicle and your traveling or camping plans.

With local dealers, raffles and seminars, the Seattle RV Show at CenturyLink Field Event Center — which runs from Thursday to Sunday, Feb. 6-9 — is sure to be exciting for anyone looking to learn more about RVs, whether you’re a longtime owner or a newcomer.

If you want to shop around for an RV, there will be 20 local dealers showcasing hundreds of new RVs. They include Airstream Adventures Northwest, Fife RV Center and Tacoma RV. From motor homes to campers to travel trailers, there’s an RV type for all your needs.

Visitors can learn about campground safety, exterior RV care, outdoor cooking techniques and more at free seminars. Hear from a variety of presenters including Washington State Parks and Torklift Central.

Experts will also be available for technical questions about RVing. A fully equipped RV will be on display for reference.

Those looking to upgrade their RV can visit the Upgrade My RV exhibit. There, you can find RV accessories designed to make your RV experience more enjoyable.

If you get thirsty while shopping around, take a break at the Beer & Wine Rest Stop. Drinks can be purchased on the concourse level and guests can take their drinks throughout the show (no drinks allowed in display RVs).

Kids 12 and under can have some fun, too, as they search for camping goodies hidden throughout the show. Treasure trail maps can be picked up at any show entrance. Try to find all five hidden treasures; each one contains a unique piece to add to your camping adventures! Blake the Snowshoe Hare will be around on Sunday.

Children 10 and under can hang out in the child-care center for free on Saturday and Sunday. There will be games, toys, coloring and movies for them to enjoy from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

If you’re feeling lucky, be sure to enter to win two 10-foot kayaks complete with two paddles and padded comfort seats. Second- and third-prize winners will receive fuel gift cards. Dealers and exhibitors throughout the show will also be conducting their own contests with prizes, so be on the lookout for those.

If you decide to purchase an RV at the show, you’ll receive a coupon for two nights of free camping at a KM Resort campground of your choice in Washington state.

Tickets bought online come with a free parking pass to the Mariners Garage with a free shuttle to the show. Additionally, when you buy a ticket for one day, you can come back again for free. Just visit the information booth while you’re at the show and ask for a complimentary ticket to come back another day.

Tickets purchased at the door do not include free parking, but $1 will be donated to Washington State Parks.
