Teachers in 3 districts walk out over state funding: Some 700 teachers across western Washington are staging protests today over what they perceive as a lack of state funding for education. Five additional teachers unions in Whatcom and Skagit counties are planning one-day strikes on Friday.
L.A. school board votes to give teachers 10 percent pay increase (Los Angeles Times): A tentative three-year agreement between the Los Angeles Unified Board of Education and the union representing the district’s teachers includes a 10 percent pay increase. Analysts in California have said the improving economy will generate “several billions more” to school districts than what was originally projected.
Peaslee won’t run for re-election: Seattle School Board member Sharon Peaslee has become the third incumbent not seeking re-election to his or her post this fall.
