Heads up: In what will be a relatively slow week for major economic reports, one will especially attract attention — the July figures on housing starts, which the Department of Commerce releases Tuesday. Total housing starts across the U.S. in June rose 9.1 percent from May and surpassed what was forecast by economists. But construction of single-family homes dropped to its lowest since 1991. Also out Tuesday is the Labor Department’s monthly producer price index and on Thursday is the Conference Board’s index of leading economic indicators, which has shown a slowing trend in recent months.

Thursday: Everett-based retailer Zumiez releases its second-quarter financial results. A 2 p.m. conference call with analysts will be webcast at http://ir.zumiez.com.
