The move comes in the wake of Bellevue-based Expedia’s acquisition of its smaller online travel booking rival.
Expedia will lay off 326 employees, or 40 percent, of the Chicago staff of Orbitz, which Expedia acquired earlier this year.
The Puget Sound Business Journal reported the number Tuesday from a filing Expedia made with the state of Illionois. The Bellevue online travel booking company previously confirmed the layoffs but declined to disclose how many people would be affected.
Expedia bought Chicago-based Orbitz for $1.6 billion in a deal that closed in September. The company expects severance and benefits costs from the layoffs to total between $130 million and $150 million.
