Three Seattle-area companies are among the 25 highest-paying firms in the U.S., according to a list released Wednesday by employer-review site Glassdoor.

Microsoft, F5 Networks and a division of made the list. All have a median salary of more than $120,000, according to anonymous employee entries on Glassdoor’s site.

The Amazon division, Amazon Lab126, which has offices in Seattle; Cupertino, Calif.; Boston; and Sunnyvale, Calif., was No. 7. The division, which handles research and development of Amazon devices, has a median salary of $138,700, according to Glassdoor.

Microsoft came in at No. 22, with a median salary of $125,000, and F5 followed at No. 23 with a median of $120,500.

Technology companies are facing steep competition to recruit candidates in Seattle, especially as more Silicon Valley companies establish offices in the area. Large companies often have increasingly high compensation packages, whereas startups tend to compete using perks and the promise of unique work.

The Glassdoor list was topped by Chicago consulting firm A.T. Kearney, which has a reported median salary of $143,620.

Several other companies that have large presences in Seattle also made the list, including Google, which recently announced plans for a massive South Lake Union campus, and Facebook, which recently expanded in the same neighborhood.

Glassdoor, a Mill Valley, Calif., company, compiles lists throughout the year based on data employees share on its site. Its December list of the 50 best places to work included seven companies from the Puget Sound region.
