Starbucks says it has started to phase out production of its Ethos brand water in drought-stricken California, relying on an existing supplier in Pennsylvania while it searches for a new long-term West Coast water source.

The move, which began in the first week of May and will take six months, comes in the wake of a Mother Jones investigation reporting that one of the bottling plants that produced Ethos for Starbucks did so in one of the regions hardest hit by the California drought.

The brand is marketed as helping solve global water scarcity and environmental issues.
