The Threshold Group, the Seattle wealth-advisory firm founded by the Russell family of Russell Investments fame, has agreed to be acquired by Tiedemann Wealth Management of New York.

Threshold, which oversees assets of about $3.4 billion, will bring Tiedemann’s assets under advisement to $15 billion, the companies said. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Threshold was founded in 1998 by George and Jane Russell after he sold the global investment services firm known as Russell Investments. Its clients are individuals, multigenerational families and foundations located in 28 states.

The transaction, which gives the Russell family a stake in Tiedemann, is expected to close in December.
