Karen Thomas was appointed managing director of the Seattle office of Gensler, a global design, planning and strategic consulting firm.

Thomas most recently served as deputy director at the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington. She also has taught at the UW’s College of Built Environments since 2003.

In 2001, she founded her own architecture and interiors-practice firm in Seattle, Thomas & Thomas.

Banking: Sam Henry was named vice president, regional team lead and senior business loan officer at HomeStreet Bank’s Bellevue Lending Center.

Consulting: Tom Petry joined Gallagher Benefit Services in Bellevue as associate client consultant.

Health care: Margaret Lane was named deputy executive director at Washington Vaccine Association, Seattle. Dr. Van Ginger joined The Polyclinic, Seattle.

Medical devices: Rob Weyer was named vice president of research and technology development at Physio-Control, Redmond.

Youth services: Monica Elenbaas was named director of fund development and community relations at Youth Eastside Services, Bellevue.
