The Port of Seattle appointed Julie Collinsas senior director of public affairs.

She is responsible for government relations, community outreach, strategic communications and airport public relations. She is part of the executive team supporting the executive office and commission, and reports directly to the CEO.

As chief external-affairs officer at the Port of Tacoma, she oversaw government affairs, communications and community-relations functions, and also served on the CEO’s executive team.

Before joining the Port of Tacoma in 1998, she worked as district director for U.S. Reps. Jennifer Dunn and Rod Chandler, and was Chandler’s senior legislative assistant in Washington, D.C.

Construction: Venture General Contracting hired Dan Weese as superintendent; Brian Welsh and Erin Carlstrom as project engineers; and Nate Brown as project manager.

Architecture: Weber Thompson announced six promotions: Todd Mayneto principal; Josh McDonaldto senior associate; and Rachael Bauer, Chelsea Gorkiewicz, Maggie Cowgill and Carey Dagliano Holmes, as associates.

Banking:Kathleen B. Cook joined the board of directors of Sound Community Bank and its holding company.

Telecommunications: GCI hired George Wolters as northwest director of business development.

Marketing:Tim Ritchie joined Seattle-based Zumobi as vice president of sales.

Law: Business and real-estate attorneys Daniel N. Shinand Chris M. Kangjoined Inslee Best Doezie & Ryder. Karl A. Hefterjoined Seed IP Law Group as an associate in its electrical engineering and computer-science group.
